With winter approaching, many Brits are looking for a festive staycation to provide a change of scenery.

For many, staycations can be a lot easier than hopping on a plane abroad, especially this time of year. We’re very lucky to have such beautiful scenery on our doorstep, with plenty of locations just over an hour away from home turf in Liverpool.

Gardeners Cottage in Bridgemere on the outskirts of Audlem is one hour and 20 minutes away from Liverpool, making it the perfect getaway that isn’t too far to travel. The tiny yet quaint cottage sleeps 2 people, making it the ideal romantic getaway.

Located on the Cheshire/Shropshire border, Gardeners Cottage is within close reach of Chester making it the ideal spot for a bit of Christmas shopping. The cottage features a spacious double bedroom with a king-sized bed and en-suite shower room.

The dog friendly cottage has a pub within two miles, oil central heating and electric fire and a kitchen area with appliances so you can rustle up a festive dish. Outside is a picturesque garden with a patio area where you can enjoy a nice hot chocolate on a chilly winters afternoon.

Also close by is Nantwich, with aesthetically pleasing historic buildings and views of the flowing River Weaver. The charming town of Llangollen is also a short distance away, with views of the River Dee and an array of traditional Welsh shops.

One review read: “Very comfortable, beautifully clean, really nice garden with a Seated area to dine, and something we liked, was the owners live next door and very friendly and helpful. Would we go back again? Let’s just say we’re already planning it.”

A second happy reviewer said: “A nice spacious clean property with everything you need. Welcome dog treats and fresh milk was a nice touch. Secluded and quiet area but ideal base to explore a wide area. Mark and Keiren are friendly hosts. We will definitely be booking again.”

A third added: “Everything you need for a relaxing stay. Spotlessly clean and very comfortably furnished. Great for walkers or shoppers a like as plenty to do in the area and all within easy reach. Thank you to Mark for his hospitality and useful tips.”

A fourth review read: “Well equipped and comfortable. My hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely visit.”
