Services Sector Grows at Slowest Pace in Over 2 Years
India's services sector activity has expanded at the slowest pace in over two years, according to a recent survey. The seasonally adjusted HSBC India Services PMI Business Activity Index has dropped from 59.3 in December to 56.5 in January, marking its lowest level since November. In the context of the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), any score above 50 signifies expansion while a score below indicates contraction. This decline reflects a noteworthy shift in the economy, as from January 2020 to January 2021, the index consistently remained above 50, showcasing robust growth. However, signs of a slowdown, as seen in January's figures, could signal a need for strategic adjustments in response to changing market conditions.
