Report: Celtic make a move for £8m-rated player
Celtic have made another bid to sign striker Adam Idah after having an initial offer rejected last month.
Adam Idah was a popular loan signing last season, scoring nine goals on the way to a league and cup double with the Bhoys – he was crucial in landing both pieces of silverware.
Brendan Rodgers made it clear directly after the Scottish Cup Final against Rangers that he would love to sign Idah up permanently.
The saga has dragged on since that point with reports of discussions and negotiations coming every few days while Idah gradually distanced himself from a stay at the Canaries.
Now, we could be about to find out definitively if he’s coming to Glasgow or not.
Celtic lodge another bid for Adam Idah
Stephen McGowan of The Scottish Daily Mail reports that Celtic have gone back in for the forward having had their initial £4.5m offer rejected.
Discussions are said to be ongoing. It’s stated that a total package of £8m would be enough to convince Norwich to part ways with the Republic of Ireland international.
That theoretically could be a fee of around £6m with add-ons, though we’ve yet to hear what the structure of any renewed Celtic bid is.
Idah will be a pleasing signing
Although it’s dragged on longer than anyone would like, finally landing Idah would no doubt go down well with many supporters.
Celtic badly need competition for Kyogo Furuhashi with currently no recognised option to replace the Japanese international should he pick up a knock or require rotation.
Idah has the skill – and personality – to come up big for the Bhoys. He’s made it obvious he wants to pursue a career in Glasgow and the confidence of a big permanent move would set him up well to make another quality impact over the coming season.
