Meta has strategically hired Shadi Nayyer, previously the head of global creator programs at TikTok, to lead a new initiative aimed at cultivating relationships with creators and developers in its burgeoning metaverse division, Reality Labs. In her role, Nayyer will be overseeing ecosystem growth and will focus intently on creators involved in the virtual-reality game Horizon Worlds as well as other metaverse applications. Nayyer expressed her commitment to enhancing the developer creator ecosystem, stating, 'A lot of what my focus is going to be on is essentially growing our developer creator ecosystem. Bringing on creators, builders, developers onto the Meta platform. Helping them learn about our products, about our tools, and just getting them into our various creator programs.' With plans to build a team of advocates and community leaders, Nayyer's approach includes hosting hackathons and participating in various events. Given Meta's objective to achieve major milestones by 2025, specifically naming Horizon Worlds as a key area, Nayyer's leadership could be pivotal. Recent data indicates that usage of Horizon has risen fivefold within the last year, reflecting a significant surge in user engagement and positioning it as a top app on Quest 3. As Nayyer aims to enhance interaction within the developer community, her past experience at TikTok and Twitch might well serve as a catalyst for innovation within Meta's metaverse initiatives.
