A man described as a “lovely person” and “top bloke” has died after being hit by a train in Liverpool.
British transport police confirmed they were called to Kirkdale station, at around 2.39pm on Saturday, November 19, after reports of a person on the tracks. Paramedics also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Tributes from “heartbroken friends” have flooded in the the man, named locally as David.

On the ECHO’s Facebook page, Debbie O’Reilly commented: “Shocked and in disbelief great fella, loved David, [he was] so funny. Sending deepest condolences to his family.” Louise Macauley said: “RIP David, absolute top bloke remember having good times with you in Jupes, thinking of his family and loved ones.”
A third, Jenni Mason said: “This was my friend David who I had the honour and pleasure to work with and some great laughs. Hope you’re at peace now mate. Thinking of all your family , friends and the train driver and anyone who saw this.”
Louisa Gallagher added: “Worked with David such a lovely person who always had us laughing. This is so sad, RIP David you are going to be so missed by all your friends and family.” While Shaz Merner said: “Such a lovely man, RIP David. Thoughts with all his family and friends and also those who witnessed this. So so sad.”
