Light Vehicle Sales See 4% Increase in January 2025
Wards Auto has released its estimates revealing that U.S. light vehicle sales for January 2025 are up by 4% compared to the same month last year, reaching a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 15.60 million units. This marks the fourth consecutive year-over-year increase in sales volume. Despite anticipating an end-of-month demand boost to recover from earlier weather-related setbacks and speculation over potential tariff increases, the anticipated surge did not materialize. Instead, sales reflected a steady upward trend resilient to economic fluctuations. Notably, this result was the best January since 2021, and even though sales declined 7.1% from December, they still showed a 3.8% year-over-year growth. With sales aligning closely to consensus forecasts, the data potentially signifies a positive forecast for the automotive market as we progress into 2025.
