Nick Kyrgios is looking forward to "having a bit of fun" as he returns to the French Open for the first time in eight years.
The 30-year-old, who has not played at Roland Garros since 2017, will team up with fellow Australian Jordan Thompson in the men's doubles.
Kyrgios, a former Wimbledon finalist, has struggled with a series of foot, knee and wrist injuries in recent seasons and has only played four singles matches in 2025.
Although he had not initially planned on competing in Paris, Kyrgios accepted the offer to play in the doubles after Thompson's regular partner Max Purcell was handed an 18-month doping ban, backdated to December 2024, in April.
Kyrgios is expected to resume his singles career in time for Wimbledon.
"The French Open was never really on the cards," Kyrgios told the Canberra Times.
"But after the stuff with Max Purcell, Jordan was looking for a partner and he asked me if I wanted to play.
"We've played at the French Open before, so it'll be good to get out there and play with another fellow Aussie and have a bit of fun."
The pair reached the third round when they played together in Paris in 2017, notably knocking out second-seeded pair Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in round one.
Kyrgios won the men's doubles at the 2022 Australian Open, partnering Thanasi Kokkinakis, while Thompson won the US Open title with Purcell last year.
The 2025 French Open will run from 25 May to 8 June.
