T.J. Watt made one of the best defensive plays of the 2022 NFL season in the Steelers’ Week 11 matchup against the Bengals.

It occurred in the third quarter after Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow dropped back to pass. Watt was rushing Burrow but was stalemated by right tackle La’el Collins.

Watt couldn’t get to Burrow, but he was able to get his hands up. Somehow, he was able to catch the ball at point-blank range.

Watt’s catch was especially impressive because he initially touched the ball with just his left hand. It ricocheted back toward his right hand, and from there he was able to stop the ball’s momentum and quickly get his hands on it to seal the pick.

The interception set up a Steelers field goal that cut their deficit to 24-23. Pittsburgh eventually lost 38-30.

The play also drew plenty of praise from players and media personalities across the NFL. That included a message of bewilderment from his brother, Cardinals defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who shared his disbelief on Twitter.

J.J. Watt wasn’t the only NFL person to comment on the play. Notably, T.J. Watt’s former teammate Joe Haden called him “unbelievable.”
