A car was left a mangled wreck after a serious crash that left a busy main road closed for hours overnight. The vehicle had its front bumper hanging off, while its windscreen was smashed and driver’s door crumpled.

The bonnet also sustained damage. The serious collision took place early this morning, November 21, in Oldbury. The crash happened on the A457 near the junction with Spon Lane South. West Midlands Police announced at 12.54am that the road was closed in both directions.

It remained shut more than seven hours later. Congestion was caused on nearby roads while ‘accident investigation work’ has been taking place, according to traffic analyst website Inrix.

In an updated tweet, West Midlands Police said: “The A457 in Oldbury near the Spon Ln South Jct remains closed in both ways. Please avoid the area and find an alternative route this morning. Thank you. <...
