Airlines Embrace Apple AirTags for Lost Luggage Recovery

A number of major airlines are rolling out innovative baggage services that incorporate Apple AirTag technology, enhancing the tracking and recovery of lost luggage. Notably, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic have announced that passengers can now share the location of their AirTags with customer service teams to assist in locating delayed or mishandled bags. This move comes as part of ongoing digital innovations within the airline industry. Lufthansa, which briefly banned AirTags in 2022, has now embraced the technology, stating that the integration allows for digital support in baggage tracking. Passengers can securely share their AirTag location, offering peace of mind, as emphasized by Virgin Atlantic's COO. This development follows Apple's announcement in November that it was working with over 15 airlines to incorporate the 'Find My' software feature into customer service processes, helping passengers navigate the often frustrating experience of lost luggage.
